Which six productions are most likely to compete for the coveted Game of the Year award where everyone is vying for it?
After a successful 2024 release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard—a product of the BioWare studio—will take the top spot with a metascore rating of 84. Additionally, the series benefits from the excitement around its highly successful predecessor, Dragon Age: Inquisition, which premiered in 2014 and took home the Game Awards’ GOTY title.
Rivals like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, all of which have strong fan bases and a hint of nostalgia for their early years, could pose a threat to it.
Who have won Game of the Year before?
Since the Game Awards have been in existence for ten years, there have been nine winners, including the previously mentioned Dragon Age: Inquisition, which took home the first honor.
Who else, however, has added even more distinction to their already impressive titles by going on to win the coveted award?
2021: It Takes Two.
Nominated: Deathloop, Metroid Dread, Psychonauts 2, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Resident Evil Village.
2022: Elden Ring.
Nominated: A Plague Tale: Requiem, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
2023: Baldur’s Gate
Nominated: Alan Wake 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
